Customize Your Handshake Privacy Settings
Students in Handshake can change their profile privacy setting at any time. You choose whether or not you want your profile to viewable to employers as well as to fellow students in Handshake.
For only our trusted employee partners, we occasionally compile a selection of resumes of those students who have had their resume reviewed by our career education team or participated in one of our career readiness workshops, programs, or events. We’re hoping that helps get more polished student resumes directly into employee hands without them having to search for them.
Here’s how you can adjust your Handshake Privacy Settings based on where you are in your search and your personal preferences:
Looking for a job or internship? Make sure your public resume is updated.
Any resume in your Documents in your Handshake profile that is marked as “Featured on Profile” or “Visible” is accessible to employers. Double check to make sure you have the most up-to-date version available.
- Click on your profile menu by clicking on your profile icon in the top right-hand corner of the page:
- Select “Documents”
- You can upload a new document or select the option to add or remove a resume to your profile:
Not searching for a job or internship yet? Turn off the “Visible” option.
You won’t receive messages you’re not ready for and employers can focus on contact students who are open to opportunities. It’s a win-win.
- Click on your profile menu in the top right-hand corner of the page
- Select “Documents”
- Uncheck the “Visible” option to remove the green checkmark for the “On Profile” option
Reply to employer messages to build your networking and interview skills.
You never know what opportunity might come your way unless you reply! Take advantage of the opportunity to interact with someone with hiring power that wants to hire Wildcats.
