A cover letter you know tells me a story and I’ve heard employers will like read cover letters first and then if they find your cover letter interesting then they’ll look at your resume to me the most important part of a cover letter is to make a unique connection with whatever you’re applying for so I mean if you’re applying for Disney I mean you’ve got a great story why you know why Disney why you’re so affected by them what it says in their mission statement that makes you want to work there if you’re applying for IBM the same thing so you know first target kind of introduce yourself but not like my name is because they have your resume too but you could say you know as a passionate problem solver and then talk about like why you want to work for Disney and then the second part of it is your skill set and where do you get that skill set right from the Job Description so if they’re looking for you know if they’re looking for people that can solve problems if they’re looking for people that can code and that’s what you’re given to them and then you back it up with your experiences so no run-on sentences like I’m good with people I’m a problem solver take each one of those and tell me about a time when you solve the problem there was a positive result or tell me you know that you worked in a restaurant you talked to hundred customers and that’s how you develop excellent communication skills so I mean I think the key to being a good interviewer is that you can articulate how your experiences have helped you develop this skill set that’s going to be beneficial to them even though you haven’t done this before you’re in possession of the skills that will help you be successful.
