On-Campus Work Integrated Learning

Helping students be better at their job, on the job.
Build the Skill is an online, asynchronous transferable skills development program that helps undergraduate students further develop their communication, leadership, and teamwork skills. We partner with on-campus employers to bring this resource to Wildcats on the job.
If you supervise undergraduates and want to bring career development to their on-campus work, this program is for you!
Here’s How it Works:
You Facilitate
When your department becomes a Build the Skill partner, we train you to facilitate the five-week online program for your student employees. We’ll teach you how to…
- Track your students’ progress
- Review their work
- Use the D2L platform
They Learn
Through Build the Skill’s reflection-based curriculum, your students will…
- Identify areas at work where they use transferable skills
- Learn vocabulary, tools, and strategies to hone their abilities
- Make plans to improve their transferable-skills-related performance at work
They Thrive
Through Build the Skill, your students
- A digital badge that certifies their skills and celebrates their hard work
- An opportunity to share feedback with their supervisors in a structured way
- Protected time at work to focus on professional development
