The DRC Office Assistant will provide administrative support as a part of the Disability Resource Center’s Academic Accommodations Team. Student workers are responsible for offering support in the exam administration office. The position will entail a commitment of 8-12 hours per week, with the possibility for additional hours at the beginning of the semester and during final exams season.
Pay: Minimum wage ($15.15/hour).
Essential Responsibilities/Duties:
1. Perform a variety of computer-supported tasks, including interacting with the department-wide database, word processing, and copying/scanning.
2. Provide general information to students, faculty, and staff to support the effective delivery of requested accommodations. Refer these affiliates to appropriate DRC team members when inquiries become complex.
3. Greet students/faculty when they enter the DRC lobby or testing center.
4. Work one-on-one with students at check-in, check-out, and during proctored exams (e.g., in the case of technical issues or student questions).
5. Demonstrate consistent organization of equipment, supplies, and important documents used in test administration.
6. Maintain confidentiality when handling incoming and completed classroom exams (including filing, printing, scanning, logging, faxing, packaging, and delivering).
7. Distribute exams to students and collect completed exams, using the department database to track accommodations and test time.
8. Manage multiple co-occurring priorities to ensure the efficient and effective flow of daily operations.
9. Perform other duties as assigned by staff.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong customer service philosophy, including the ability to use good judgment and work comfortably with a diverse constituency.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, web browsers, and ability to learn relevant databases.
- Ability to work independently given departmental policies and guidelines.
- Orientation towards detail, creative problem-solving, and teamwork.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Enrolled in The University of Arizona (minimum of 6 units).
Preferred Qualification:
- GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Students who have at least 2 years left in their studies at the U of A.
