Position Description:
The University of Arizona’s College of Nursing (CON) is one of the country’s most respected research institutions and a leader in health-sciences education and scholarship, located in beautiful Southern Arizona. The Be Smoke Free Study is seeking a student research assistant to help the research team with phone-based recruitment activities. The candidate will have a high degree of professionalism, organization, discretion, tact, initiative, and ability to follow instructions while using good judgement in a research environment. The selected candidate for this Research Assistant position must be able to work with participants in a confidential and professional manner, communicate effectively with participants and study staff, be self-motivated and detail-oriented, and be a good team player.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist research staff with participant recruitment activities.
- Independently interact with potential participants to describe the study and screen potential participants for eligibility.
- Document contacts and screening in REDCap database system.
- Compile written materials into participant packets for mailing.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Knowledge of standard office policies and procedures.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively interact with a wide range of people.
- Skill in developing and maintaining good working relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to organize and complete multiple projects concurrently.
- Demonstrated skill in English composition, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Experience with REDCap or other database system.
- Intermediate skill level of Microsoft Office: (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Intermediate skill level with Zoom and Zoom phone.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of University policies and procedures.
- Ability to work on project for the Fall 2024 semester.
Special Instructions for Candidates:
The position requires computer work, internet access, and Zoom phone communication. The schedule is flexible but requires most work to be completed during normal business hours. Must be on campus at least one day per week.
