DEFINITION

Under the limited supervision of a supervisory officialG in a state departmentG institutionG or agencyG or in a local government agencyG performs complex professional work which includes developmentG implementationG and maintenance of multi-networkG multi-user Local Area Networks(LAN)G Metropolitan Area Networks (MAN)G and/or Wide Area Networks (WAN)U maintainscentralizedG decentralizedG and remote network servicesU maintains network security and data integrityU providesconsultations and recommendations to infrastructure managersG as requiredG to troubleshoot and resolve network problemsG monitor overall performanceG and conduct upgrades as requiredU may be assigned to the administration of S torage Area Networks (SANs)U does other related duties as requiredZ

REQUIREMENTS

NOTE Applicants must meet one of the following or a combination of both experience and educationZ Thirty (3 0) semester hour credits are equal to one (1 ) year of relevant experienceZ

Seven (7) years of professionalexperience in the developmentG implementationG and maintenance of multi-networkG multi-user Local Area Network(LAN)G Metropolitan Area Network(MAN)G and/or Wide Area Network(WAN) environmentsG including or supplemented by a minimum of eighteen (1 8 ) semester hour credits in mathematicsG computer scienceG information technologyG and/or computer information systemsZ

NOTE For positionsinvolved in the administration of a S torageArea Network (SN) applicants must have at least three (3 ) years of professional experience installingG configuringG and supporting network hardware and softwareG one (1 ) year of whichshall have been in planningG implementationG and support of SANand related technologiesZ

OR

Possession of a bachelorhs degree from an accredited college or university including or supplemented by a minimum of eighteen (1 8 ) semester hour credits in mathematicsG computer scienceG information technologyG and/or computer information systemsU and three (3 ) years of the above-mentioned professional experienceZ

NOTE Evidence of formal training in Computer Scienceor Information Technology received from or evaluated by an accredited institution of higher learningmay be submitted with your applicationZ Applicants must provide documentation from the accredited institution that clearly outlines the training course(s) that are acceptable and the corresponding number of credit hours for the training to be acceptedZ In-house courses(such as training providedon the job or through the appointing authority) will not be acceptedZ
