The University of Arizona STEP-UP 2025 Summer Program Trainee

The University of Arizona’s Student Transformative Experiences to Progress Undergraduate and Graduate Professionals (STEP-UP) in cancer prevention program is now accepting applications for our 2025 Summer Research Program until January 20, 2025.

During this 10-week program (June 9 – August 15, 2025), Undergraduate and Masters-level students will engage in an immersive mentored research experience with one of our over 50 committed faculty mentors and our program leaders in Cancer Prevention and Control research in Tucson, AZ.

In addition, students will be engaged in complementary learning activities such as community outreach, personal cancer preventative behaviors, and professional growth.

This is a full-time, paid, opportunity for students to build a foundation for a future career in Cancer Prevention and Control research practice.

Eligibility:

  • Current Undergraduate or Master’s Student (must be enrolled as an Undergraduate Junior, Undergraduate Senior or Master’s level student during the fall semester of the program year).
    • If you are transitioning to graduate school in the fall semester of the program year, you must provide proof of application or acceptance.
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or above.
  • U.S. Citizen or permanent resident (International students are not eligible for this program due to federal funding restrictions).
  • Able to commit to the full 10-week summer research experience (6/9/25 – 8/15/25).
    • Other employment, courses, commitments, vacations, etc., are prohibited during the program. Please ensure you can comply with a full-time schedule before you apply.
  • We encourage applications from students from underrepresented, disadvantaged, non-traditional, or first-generation college backgrounds or who attend schools with limited research opportunities.
