What is the difference between Room Only, Open and Preselect interview type?
Room Only: A room will be reserved in Handshake but the slots will be managed outside of Handshake. You can select students for this interview schedule but they will not be able to take slots in Handshake.
Open: Specify an application period where if students meet the qualifications set on the interview they can take slots. The students will be able to take a slot immediately after applying.
Preselect: Specify an application period and a signup period. Primary and alternate student choices are selected after the application period. Primary candidates are allowed to sign up before alternate candidates.
Doesn't my resume just go to the companies that are participating in OCI?
No. You must demonstrate that you're interested in the company and position, AND that you meet the minimum requirements by submitting a resume.
How do I look for On-Campus Interviews?
If you are looking to apply to On-Campus Interviews, you can go about this two different ways: searching for specific interviews and then applying to the related jobs, or by searching for and applying to specific jobs that are connected to interview schedules.
You can select On-Campus Interviews from the top menu to view interviews that will be taking place on your school's campus. You can type in a keyword directly to search, or you can use a filter or multiple filters to customize your search.
Why don't I meet the requirements to submit a resume?
Employers specify academic requirements for resume submissions and scheduling sign up. These requirements can be majors, degree level, graduation dates, and work authorization status. For MBA schedules, employers can also have minimum GPA requirements.
How do I sign up for an interview? The employer said I was picked to sign up.
If you select an Interview Schedule that you've already applied to, you will see messaging like this:
Once you've been chosen by an employer for an On-Campus Interview, you'll receive a notification in Handshake.
You can always find all of the jobs, along with any interviews, that you've applied to by selecting Applications from the menu. Along the side of each job or interview title, you can easily view the status of that application, such as 'Submitted', 'Primary' or 'Alternate'.
If you see that you've been selected to interview, you can select the interview in order to see all available slots. Simply select Take Slot to reserve that time for yourself to interview.
Do I have to attend the informational meeting for the company I wish to interview with?
Generally, no, but it is highly recommended to do so (and occasionally required).
If you have a conflict that prevents you from attending, contact the company's representative as a courtesy.
If you do intend to go, please resister:
- In Handshake, locate the Information Session Event Search and filter Information Sessions
- Click on the event to view a description
- Click the 'Register' button
Can I come in on the interview date and get a time slot?
No. All interview appointments must be arranged prior to the interview date.

What is the "No-Show" policy?
Students who fail to properly cancel or do not show up for a scheduled interview are restricted from participating in OCI. To avoid a No-Show, cancel your campus interview.
What is a No-Show?
A no-show occurs when a student fails to show up for a scheduled on-campus interview without canceling at least 48 hours in advance.
Canceling Your On-Campus Interview
You can complete this cancelation procedure up to 48 business hours prior to the scheduled interview without incurring a no-show penalty.
- Login to Handshake and click on Career Center
- Click on "Appointments"
- Select the interview that you wish to cancel
- Click "Cancel Appointment"
- If you must cancel a campus interview with less than 48 business hours notice you will incur a no-show. There are no exceptions, no matter the reason for the cancelation.
- Call Student Engagement & Career Development at (520) 621-2588 so that we can notify the recruiter of your cancelation. Yes, this is still a no-show situation, but you will have demonstrated professionalism in communicating your situation to the recruiter.
