Faculty and Staff Internship Support
Academic Credit for Students
The University of Arizona grants credit for internship experiences according to guidelines and policies for individual studies courses communicated in the UA Catalog. Academic internship coordinators are responsible for familiarizing themselves with those policies, as well as internship specific guidelines and forms and applying them consistently when creating and implementing processes related to enrolling students in academic credit for internships.
Beyond the transactional aspects of enrolling students in for-credit internships, the role of an internship coordinator and course instructor can be one of the most meaningful sources of support for student learning and career development. Student Engagement & Career Development provides the following educational and internship search resources designed to support the success of students. We invite internship coordinators to incorporate these resources into internship orientation and course activities. We would be happy to consult with individuals about how to use these resources to best advantage in your local academic context.

UA Internship Council
We also support the UA Internship Council, a voluntary professional advisory and learning community comprised of those individuals on campus responsible for house-numbered internship or practicum courses. Student Engagement & Career Development staff also participate in the council meetings. This organization meets regularly throughout the academic year to share best practices, support University-wide goals related to engagement of students in for-credit experiential learning, and to advise the University and SECD in relation to future internship policy changes.
