Summer Internship Stipends: A Career Impacting Award
Student Engagement & Career Development wants to help you make the most of your internship experience with a $2500 summer internship stipend to support your work over the summer!
Some internship opportunities are unpaid or have additional costs associated with them such as moving, travel expenses, and professional clothing. The summer internship stipend can give you extra financial support so you can focus on your internship and the valuable skills you’ll be gaining.
Eligibility requirements include:
- University of Arizona undergraduate enrolled in classes for Fall 2024
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident (or U.S. high school graduate eligible to receive residency benefits under Arizona Prop 308)
- Hired for a summer 2024 internship or continuing an internship into summer 2024 with one of our qualifying internship partners
- Meet need-based criteria according to records of the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid. Eligible students will be invited to apply.

What are the eligibility requirements? Do I have to meet all of them? / How do I qualify? / How do I find out if I’m eligible?Please see eligibility requirements above. Students must meet all eligibility requirements. Students will be notified of their eligibility through email from the LifeLab Team (lifelab@arizona.edu) in November of 2023. If a student believes they might be eligible based on the criteria above and does not receive an email notifying them of their eligibility, they can consult with OSFA to determine the impact of a summer stipend on their aid package.

How do I search for opportunities?Students can search for opportunities with qualifying partners through Handshake! In Handshake under jobs, click on “all filters Scroll down to find “Labeled by your school” and type in “sis”. Select the sis label then click “show results” to see the opportunities with employer partners! What do I need to apply for an internship?Follow the directions within each position’s posting. Most opportunities require applicants to apply through Handshake with a resume and cover letter. You can get help with your materials by meeting 1:1 with a career peer coach in an internship coaching appointment. How will the stipend be dispersed?Once you accept an offer and complete an internship workplan with the internship supervisor, the stipend will be distributed to your bursar’s account in one sum early in the summer.
