Handshake FAQs

When will my employer account be approved at the University of Arizona?

It typically takes 7-10 days to process pending employer approval requests. If your request is not completed in this timeframe, please log into Handshake because you may have notifications of comments or questions on your registration. Employers are approved quickest if their profile is filled out completely and professionally, their contact information is valid, and it is clear from their website that they offer full-time jobs requiring college degrees or career-oriented internships.

If you have an urgent need to post a job or internship for University of Arizona students and your account is still pending, please contact us at employer@email.arizona.edu.

How do I create a job or internship posting?

Please review this Handshake "How do I post a job?" article for a step-by-step tutorial. For more job posting-related answers, check out the Handshake Help Center's job posting resources.

I created a job or internship posting, but now I can’t find it.

Your jobs and internships are on your home page. Jobs do not post to a school and show up under Job Postings until your account is approved at a that school.

If your job posting has expired, you can renew the job posting by following the directions in this "How to renew an expired job posting" article.

How do I target the right students with my job or internship posting? How can I get more applicants?

There are a number of applicant preferences you can set in your job postings that can affect your applicant pool, including graduation date range or school year, majors, and GPA. This "Understanding Job Preferences" article describes how these preferences work.

Attracting the right students to your job posting requires using preferences wisely, writing a compelling job description, and sometimes, proactive outreach to students. Find some tips in our "Recruiting Best Practices in Handshake" blog post. Our Employer & Alumni Engagement team is also happy to talk to you to strategize around your job postings and campus recruiting strategy. Contact us at employer@email.arizona.edu.

Where do I find my career fair registrations?

In Handshake, click Fairs on the left menu and then select "Show Registered Only." To find upcoming University of Arizona fairs, search for “University of Arizona.”

Click “Follow Career Fair” on fairs you’ve registered for to receive updates and easily find them in the future.

How do I request on-campus interview (OCI) dates?

Click Interviews in the left navigation. Then click “Request Interview Schedule.” Fill out the form and click the “Request Event” button.

Choose University of Arizona and select the career center location where you will host your interviews.

Please provide as much information as possible. Your request will be processed by the selected career center. For UA interview request questions, contact employer@email.arizona.edu, and also review this Handshake "How do I post an interview schedule to a school?" article.

How do I request an information session or other on-campus recruiting event?

From your homepage in Handshake, click Events on the left navigation. Then click “Request Event.” Fill out the form and click the “Request Event” button. Also review Handshake’s step-by-step "Request an Event" article.

Where do I go to make a payment?

Invoices are generated for a fair, event or OCI once it is approved. You will receive an invoice by email. Download the invoice, open and click the PAY HERE link.  This will take you to the fair, event or OCI schedule in Handshake where you can click the green Pay Now link, which will allow you to pay with credit card.

If you wish to pay by check, please make it out to Student Engagement and Career Development and send to Student Union Memorial Center, 1303 E University Blvd. #411, P.O. box 210017, Tucson, AZ 85721

If you have been invoiced, but do not see the option to select the green Pay Now button, it is most likely because you selected to make the payment manually (by check) when you registered for the fair. In this case, please reach out to the contact person listed for the career fair to update your registration so you have the ability to pay with a credit card.
